What started as a random weekend road trip to NY to hike a few trails, turned into an extremely fun and memorable experience. .(and omg joe is so fast I didn’t even realize cus I was so busy trying not to die)
I want to share a brief summary of our weekend and amazing photos of our hikes! As well as some great references if you choose to experience these hikes as well.
From staying in the countryside in Poughkeepsie with Susan, our Airbnb host (also owner of Elf Works Lane) who cooked up a storm every morning and night (this is NOT the typical Airbnb experience at all. This is way beyond!), to reuniting with my good yogi friend Alison after one year, to a great workout from an 8mile walk on the woods (Lemon Squeezer, Appalachian), to the 3 mile Breakneck Ridge rock scramble loop (thank you knees for holding up, and to bouldering and rock climbing for making this way easier than I expected), to another peaceful walk in Innisfree Chinese Teacup Garden, to the friends we made in our Airbnb. .
It was so meant to be. Our host was amazing. She is a breast cancer survivor, who took matters into her own hands when she was diagnosed at 38 and was told she had 6 months to live. She’s 60 now. She shared many stories and experiences about her life, her sons, being laid off from a corporate job, and the Airbnb experience with us over dinner. Who still has human interaction like that over meals these days?? We want to come back every year just to chat with her and eat her food! Lol .
There r so many more climbs and trails we wanna do in NY next time And we know where we will stay…EVERY TIME! Thank you Susan, NY, @stilllifewithalison @3mr_and (our Syrian friend who spent 4 months in a military jail!) @lloydbanks and of course my hubby @joerehab for sharing all these amazing life experiences with me. . .travel lots! Cus u meet the most amazing people!
