I’m a CORE SPECIALIST!

This weekend, I completed the Core Confidence Specialist course with Bellies Inc.

Kim, Sam, and Julia were phenomenal teachers with a vast amount of knowledge and experience. There could easily have been 5 more weekends added to the course with all the content we covered and then some, and I would walk out of every weekend with my mind blown over and over! This is applicable not just to mom’s, but men, teenagers, and non-mom’s! YES, ANYONE CAN GET DIASTASIS!

WHY A CORE SPECIALIST?

One of my clients experienced a prolapse after her baby (when the pelvic floor (PF) is weakened and your reproductive/digestive organs start to descend, and in severe cases will start to protrude through the vagina?) She began working with a PF physio and worked on re-training her core for about 3 months. Now she’s back and ready to work-In a safe and mindful way of course!

I wanted to do this course because of clients like her, and the dozen other moms I train. This will be very useful for me whenever I have a baby as well! This info is not just helpful for moms or moms-to-be, but men, kids, and non-moms as well

There is so much about the core that we don’t know about, or that we are misinformed about, such as WHAT THE CORE ACTUALLY IS! What this program teaches should be part of basic anatomy training and it is certainly lacking in the standard weekend personal trainer certifications. After giving birth, women shouldn’t be left saying to themselves “why didn’t anyone tell me about this?” or “kegals are too hard, or don’t work.” or “I pee myself but its ok, its normal.” A lot of moms are too shy to talk about their incontinence, prolapse, diastasis, mom-tummies, and/or think this is all normal. These are common issues, but not NORMAL and CAN BE fixed.

Whether you are 6 weeks or 20 years POST-PARTEM, your body is not the same as it was before your baby(ies). And yes, it CAN happen to “fit” people too!
Prevention and preparation is important for carrying your child and childbirth, and recovery and re-training is necessary post partem.
Creating that AWARENESS around our deeper muscles and stabilizers will set the foundation for the big movements by our primary, superficial muscles. With consistent practice, overtime, it will be come automatic and we can move and live life the way we want, and have that awareness to MODIFY whenever appropriate. “Surgery can fix the symptom, but not the problem.” That’s why recurring surgeries can happen.

WHAT NOW?

With all the information I’ve learned SO FAR, I am going to put together a series relating to the core, what it is, what it’s supposed to do, and how to re-train and train the core so that you can move and function optimally, be fit, lose weight, and not get injured!

I’ll tell you exactly:

  • why crunches are bad for you and, unless you absolutely have to, why you should NEVER EVER DO THEM AGAIN
  • why unwanted leakage, heaviness, and bulging tummies may be common but CAN BE fixed
  • how to do self assessments
  • the latest research
  • exercises re-train core function and eventually, how to get back to the training you love!

If you want to work together to retrain your core, you know how to find me 🙂

STAY TUNED
