Feb 29, 2016 is our leap day! I didn’t think much of it at first, but seeing how little time we all have for ourselves nowadays, I thought it would be great to whip this short video together for you. I themed it around jumps and leaps, like a frog, which will re-energize you and loosen you up!
The common theme is that the days are too short and we just don’t have enough time to do all the things we want/need to do, let alone CATCH UP with stuff. But this year, we have an entire extra 24 hours to “find more time” to do stuff, be it family time, Me time, cook, clean, exercise, sing, sleep…etc.
I decided to google some more info on the leap year, just to get some more inspiration for my video.
I learned that the purpose of the extra day is to make up the difference between the calendar year and the solar year. It is convenient for us in daily life to go by a calendar year of 365 days. The solar year, which measures time by the movement of the Earth round the Sun, is actually 365 days and about six hours long. In four years, these six hours a year make an extra day, so we have a year with an extra day in it, a leap year.
So, we’re not actually finding more time, rather, we’re catching up on the time we’ve lost over the last four years. No wonder why we’re all so stressed out!
Regardless of how we’ve arrived at this extra day, the important thing is HOW we spend this extra day. And we shouldn’t just be conscious of this extra time. We should cherish our time every single day. Do stuff that matters, with intention, passion and with a purpose. Yes, easier said than done and I also fall into the trap of mindlessness. But just carve a few minutes here and there and figure out what really needs to be done and what can wait. What is important to YOU?
I hope you enjoy this video!
