She lost 30lbs with yoga. Here’s how.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that Trish has been helping me out with the classes as my teaching assistant and demo teacher. You might also recognize her in some of my transformation posts. But, what you may not know about Trish is earlier this year, she was in a much darker place. She was battling feelings of depression, grieving over her brother’s death 5 years ago, suffering from injuries in the knees, ankles, and shoulders, and weight gain.

She had been told by doctors that she should never do certain exercises ever again, such as squatting, and standing yoga poses such as warrior and lunge.

When we first started working together, we used yoga to help build balance, stability in the hip, knee and ankle, as core strength. We didn’t pick up any weights until about a month in. It was tough in the beginning and there were times where she wanted to quit, but practicing yoga not only slowly built strength and body awareness, it helped strengthen her mind and the consistent practice made her realize that this was more than just about that hour of exercise.

Yoga helped Trish heal her injuries, physically and mentally. She is now able to back-squat her body weight! Standing yoga poses are no problem, in fact, she can move through an intense yoga flow with sheer strength and grace. Her back, hips, and shoulders are much stronger but also flexible, allowing her to do some poses for the first time such as the splits, hand stands, and back bends. She’s even practicing unassisted pull-ups!

The understanding of her body and proper movement technique that was gained from yoga has enhanced her exercise routines as well as every day life. In just the first 3 months, Trish lost 22lbs – and again, we didn’t even lift any weights in the first month!

Stress is a huge culprit with weight gain and the inability to lose fat. With yoga, Trish’s posture has improved, which relieves a lot of stress from her joints and organs, and she experiences less pain. Her mind is more clear and she isn’t as easily distracted, so she can focus on what needs attention at the moment. This has helped her with stress management, prioritizing, and of course, with the weight loss.

Yoga teaches us to move with purpose, intention, not mindlessly because that is how injuries occur. With less stress on, and in, the body, the body is able to function efficiently.

Trish is now down 30lbs, down more than 15% body fat and counting!

Now I want to help YOU, and anyone else you might know that could use a guide to their road to health and wellness. In order for me to reach a larger audience without being in the same city, without having them fork out a tonne of money, and without scaring them with my pretzel photos and videos – for the record, I am NOT scary to train with 🙂 – I’ve created this Get Started with Yoga e-book guide.

After months of working on it, I finally launched my e-book, with almost 50 pages of coloured photos and content, over 50 poses, broken down with beginner to advanced options. I also go over breathing and mantra’s with you

I am really excited to be able to share my practice with everyone and anyone, ANYWHERE!

I hope my short videos and instructional photos have been helpful with your yoga practice. If you want to dive deeper into yoga, or if you still don’t know where to start, my first e-book is here to outline some of the most common poses with lots of options!image

It is available for you to purchase on my website HERE
